My father started a "diary" in 1945 (more accurately, a journal, covering both family and current events), and I'm going to see if this is a decent way to publish it. Since I'm doing it as a blog, to get to the beginning of the journal, you have to go to the beginning of the blog.

Race strikes incited by fascists are increasing in midwest schools and making a beginning in Harlem. High school students in New York are striking to support teacher-coaches who are asking extra pay for coaching athletics. Australian and American seamen are picketing to prevent supplies and Dutch marines from being sent to put down the Indonesian revolution. Sylvia took a flag down to wave at any soldier she sees.
