Lillian read "Assignment in Brittany" by MacIness [sic] (Highet), very good and Bird of the Wilderness by Vincent Sheean, pretty good. Reactionary papers, Socialists and Pacifists are pushing a negotiated peace drive [?] with Japan. The Chinese are fighting and defeating the Japs.
I read "Assignment in Brittany" many years later, when I was an adult. Loved Helen MacInnes' novels.
Just noticed (1/13/11) that I missed labeling the date Sunday here; corrected that.
My father started a "diary" in 1945 (more accurately, a journal, covering both family and current events), and I'm going to see if this is a decent way to publish it. Since I'm doing it as a blog, to get to the beginning of the journal, you have to go to the beginning of the blog.
