My father started a "diary" in 1945 (more accurately, a journal, covering both family and current events), and I'm going to see if this is a decent way to publish it. Since I'm doing it as a blog, to get to the beginning of the journal, you have to go to the beginning of the blog.

Tens of thousands of workers are losing their jobs already due to cutbacks in war orders. G. L. K. Smith is the most active American Fascist these days. President Truman has set aside today as a day of prayer in thanks for the peace we have won after years of war. Spanish leaders in exile in Mexico have appointed Barrio as provisional president of free Spain. The French S.P. has rejected unity with the C.P. but left way open for unity on specific issues.
