Mar 23 Sunday Sylvia stayed in bed except for several television programs - Mr I Magination, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. Tornadoes killed over two hundred and injured more than a thousand in Ark. Tenn. Missouri and Miss.

Mar 24 Sylvia out of bed with her temp. down but she coughs some. She is practising [sic] knitting.

Mar 25 Sylvia returned to school today.

Mar 26 Sylvia came home with Susan Kohn but when they couldn't get her mother on the phone, they went over there. Three bandits stole $600,000 from an Armored car while the guards were having some coffee.

Mar 27 Lillian went to a card party and luncheon with Madeline for the Temple's benefit. They didn't  stay for the cards. Later the Brownie investiture was held with photographers to celebrate the 300th group in the Bronx. 

Mar 28 The U.S. is lifting the passports of hundreds of liberals who are abroad at present. Eugene finally got to the dancing class at P.S. 86 where Larry R. had been going. He knew some of the boys but doesn't remember the girls. 

Mar 29 Riots in Iran against "U.S. germ warfare" resulted in 12 killed and 100 injured. Japan cracked down on Communists with raids and arrests. A crisis continued in Tunis as a pro-French premier replaced the Nationalist Bey following terrorist activities.

Mar 17 Lil went down to Castro and ordered a convertible sofa $174.

Mar 18 Eugene and his Spanish class went to see "Viva Zapata" with Marlo Brandon [sic] today at the Rivoli. Reuther seized the left wing Ford Local. Sylvia went to bed with 101° and a lot of phlegm in her throat. Dr Holzman would not come over but ordered a cough mixture - Cosanyl and mustard P

Mar 19 Sylvia is still in bed. Her temp is 99.6° Willy Sutton went on trial as it was announced his pal DeVenuta will turn state's evidence. There is extreme protection for everyone concerned in the trial as even jurors showed fears of reprisals. Corruption investigator Newbold Morris, after attacking the Committee investigating him, was refused subpoena power.  

Mar 20 Sylvia got out of bed today and went to the Brownie meeting with Lil - but not to school, although she is not perfect. Sec'y of Labor Tobin asked Congress to outlaw left wing unions.  

Mar 21 Lil took Sylvia to Dr Holzman as she is little better. She has bronchitis due to a new virus coming in here from the West. The doctor gave her a shot of penicillin and prescribed terramycin medicine in a pleasant strawberry mixture. Also a mustard plaster. The South African Supreme Court outlawed the separate Electoral lists. Prime Minister Malan indicated he would defy the decision.

Mar 22 Sylvia is in bed again feeling well and temperature under 100°. A steel strike was temporarily averted with a W.S.B. recommendation of a [sic] around 18¢ per hour package increase. Humphrey Bogart and Vivian Leigh won 1951 Oscars for their parts in "The African Queen" and "A Streetcar Named Desire". "An American in Paris" was chosen best film of the year.
