5/21

Played tennis today with Sylvia Cooke for first time of the season. Sadie came over for lunch with her kids on way to the doctor with Arline. She is quite cute.

My father was a fine tennis player; he won NYC Parks Dept. championships in his younger days. In fact, our parent's first "date" was when my mother went to see him play in a tournament. The match (between our parents, not the tennis one!) was apparently set up by Dad's mother Becky and Mom's sister-in-law Mollie, who knew each other from the neighborhood. As I've said, Mollie's husband, Sam Modelson, was Mom's older brother; he was eleven years older than her. I remember the name "Sylvia Cooke" as someone Dad often played tennis with.
