We decided to play records. Sylvia picked out the Sibelius album and Eugene Haydn. When Sylvia refused to pick up the picture album Eugene threatened her that I wouldn't play Sibelius for her. Eugene looked at all the states in the Atlas and afterward remembered fifteen states from memory. Went over to mother's and Hymee Peck there, in from Wisconsin on a visit. Tante Rose, Faith and Carla there. Carla is quite precocious. Their cousin Benny the baker came over. Abe & Blume, Anne and Mac and Barbara also there. Harry Lilly & Susan there also Taubie. Cartellists are being named to control German industry.
There are a bunch of (apparently) family members here (we had family in Wisconsin?) who we must have lost touch with in later years, as I have no memory of them (except for a vague memory of a Tante (Aunt) Rose), and they're not in the family tree.
7/9/11 Now I know who they are, and they're now in the family tree. Rose Edelstein was my grandfather Barney's sister; Faith, Rose's daughter; Carla, Faith's daughter.
My father started a "diary" in 1945 (more accurately, a journal, covering both family and current events), and I'm going to see if this is a decent way to publish it. Since I'm doing it as a blog, to get to the beginning of the journal, you have to go to the beginning of the blog.
