My father started a "diary" in 1945 (more accurately, a journal, covering both family and current events), and I'm going to see if this is a decent way to publish it. Since I'm doing it as a blog, to get to the beginning of the journal, you have to go to the beginning of the blog.

I've read it all. What a magical window for us. BTW Klaus has a tie or two which he wears given to him by your father. I remember the ritual ending of our visits to your house in the Bronx with your father pulling out his box of ties and Mike picking out one or two with everybody voicing an opinion.

ReplyDeleteYes, it was reading carefully about those summers that got me to do this, although I'd been thinking casually about doing SOMETHING like this for years. And I'll be doing it for a long time! I have in front of me fifteen notebooks, going through 1964.
ReplyDeleteWe'll get to his tie business, eventually. He first sold tennis balls as a side business, before the ties, but no mention of that, yet.
