4/19

Sylvia ran over shouting "hey, daddy". I told her hay was for horses, so she answered "You're a little horse". Ernie Pyle, favorite correspondent of the soldiers has been killed on Okinawa. Brazilian Amnesty of all political prisoners has freed Prestes. Eugene builds all sorts of intricate houses with his alphabet blocks and lok-bloks.

Although he spells it "horse", Sylvia was presumably punning with "hoarse".

  2. Eventually she'll read this, and we'll see what she thinks. She may remember it (reading it in the diary, not likely to remember the incident). Certainly when we were older, it was a common pun for us.
