Took kids to Zoo. Fine weather and a fine time watching seals fed, bears, African plains, lions, tigers. Kids sucked caramel pops making faces a chocolatey mess. Mollie came over with her eight year old nephew Jerry Chermak. Eugene and he got along well and had a lot of fun.
The "Zoo", of course, is the Bronx Zoo, then called the New York Zoological Park. We always loved watching the seals; I remember that we were told they were technically "sea lions". I do not recognize the name "Chermak", but I don't actually have any of Mollie's relatives in my family tree.
My father started a "diary" in 1945 (more accurately, a journal, covering both family and current events), and I'm going to see if this is a decent way to publish it. Since I'm doing it as a blog, to get to the beginning of the journal, you have to go to the beginning of the blog.
