My father started a "diary" in 1945 (more accurately, a journal, covering both family and current events), and I'm going to see if this is a decent way to publish it. Since I'm doing it as a blog, to get to the beginning of the journal, you have to go to the beginning of the blog.

We voted today for O'Dwyer and the ALP slate. We voted for Quill Rubenstein & G W Klein for Councilman. Molotov has asked for sharing of the atom bomb secret. Philip Murray wants wages discussed at the L-M Conference. IAM convention has retained its Lily White clause by a narrow margin. The Illinois AFL has asked for an end to color bars in AFL Unions. Chinese Communists charge our Marines are actively intervening in the Civil War. A Federal court recently declared the Georgia "White primary" unconstitutional. W. O'Dwyer won the Mayoralty election today 1,119,175 votes to Rep. lib. J J Goldstein 434,050 and No Deal N. Morris 399,437. The ALP gave O'Dwyer 259,898 votes. The Liberal Party gave Goldstein 123,218.
