2/7

Women are standing in lines for hours to get nylon stockings at a few stores $1.19. A trial in London has been going on for weeks concerning the brutalities committed at the Army detention center at Litchfield against U.S. Army men. Sam Altschuler dropped in for a few minutes. Al & Ediths baby boy has been in the hospital for almost two weeks having infant diarrhea. The Greek dispute has been shelved by the UNO with Norman JO Makin, Australian president of the Security Council making a statement incorporating declarations on Greece by various countries. 2 railroad strikers have been killed and 3 wounded by guards of the Toledo, Peoria and Western R.R. Deniken[?] has been allowed in the country and has spoken here.

Don't know who has been allowed in.

  1. I remember Sam Altschuler. I was probably 6 and I was in love with him. I remember his wife as a "beautiful lady". Do you know what he did for occupation? Their offspring? Izzy

  2. I remember the name well, but only remember them vaguely, and don't know anything about them. Silvia and I have talked about it; we don't know who they were, really; family or friends. If you look at the Family Tree, you'll see that Ida Zola, our grandmother, had a parent named "Libby Mirriam Aleschuler". I got that from one of our California cousins, and asked if that was really "Altschuler", but never got an answer.
