11/18 Sunday

Councilman elections brought Quill on top in the Bronx, Ira Palestin (Lib.) and Keegan (Dem) among five elected. Isaacs led in Manhattan with Davis next and Connolly among five elected. Cacchione was first in B'klyn with Goldberg (Lib.) among eight elected. Restrictions against C.P. in Brazil have been lifted with democratic steps being taken by the gov't. Lillian and the kids went to Ida Guzman for a gathering in honor of Frieda and Joe's imminent departure. I got up at 7:15 and set the kids up as usual with their books and toys. Lillian got up at 8:45 and the kids had been waiting patiently for their breakfast.

Ida Guzman (nee Patchenik, married to Max Guzman) was my grandfather's first cousin; Frieda was their daughter, and Joe Gerber was her husband; presumably, that's who's referred to here. Interestingly, their son, Bob Gerber, and I worked together for several years at Sperry before we found that we were third cousins. We lost touch some years ago.
