My father started a "diary" in 1945 (more accurately, a journal, covering both family and current events), and I'm going to see if this is a decent way to publish it. Since I'm doing it as a blog, to get to the beginning of the journal, you have to go to the beginning of the blog.

Lillian went to school today to see Eugene's class in action during "open school" week. Mrs. Lyston said we should be as proud of him as she is. We are continuing to send much help to Chiang. A "Pearl Harbor" probe is going on. The Japs were negotiating secretly with influential persons in Washington in addition to talks with Hull and Roosevelt, it is revealed. Laski has denounced the Labor Government's policies in India and Java. The Radical Party has joined the Anti-Peron bloc in Argentina. Finnish war criminals, including Ryti, Rangell, Tanner & Linkomies are in the dock in the trials starting yesterday. Jewish demonstrators against the Truman Attlee decisions were shot at in Palestine. Gabriela Mistral Chilean writer has won the Nobel Prize for literature. Zoltan Tildy has formed a Hungarian gov't including 3 C.P. and 3 S.D.s. "Blackie" one of the gold fish dies today. It didn't mean much to Eugene.
