6/28-7/4/53

June 28 Sunday Pop and mom took us out to Palisade Amusement Park where we all had a good time especially Sylvia. First we had a picnic lunch which we had at the picnic tables. Then the kids went to town. Sylvia went on rides mostly while Eugene preferred games. Eugene went on a few rides but the exciting ones find him a little timid. Sylvia however will go on anything and looks for more thrills. She got a hat monogrammed with her name and was the only one to win anything at the games. She won one dog race and got a pad and pencil. The kids won tickets at skee ball and got some whistles. We had drinks of all kinds and ices. We played miniature golf, saw an aerial act and took pictures. Going home the car wouldn't start and we called the A.A.A. Pop had a dispute with him but it was soon straightened out. A terrific shower started the moment we got upstairs.

June 29 Eugene and Larry went to the movies.

June 30 It was Sylvia's last school day. She was out playing all day.

July 1 Eugene played tennis with Larry. Sylvia went to the movies with Betty-Ann and Arlene. We put up wallpaper in the foyer.

July 2 Eugene played ball with Larry. Sylvia kept cool in the yard shower with the other girls.

July 3 We got our foyer and living room linoleum today. Eugene played ball with Larry.

July 4 On a gorgeous day, cool and not humid, we went to Woodlawn with Sam Mencher who came over from Queens. Sam and Molly and pop came over later. I broke even with Sam. Eugene won a chess game from pop. We played some ball on the lawn and listened to the ball games on our portable. Sam Mencher came home with us and stayed the evening. Vic Seixas won the Wimbledon title beating Kurt Nielson 9-7, 6-3, 6-4.
